Unity With Nature Committee

Purpose:

  • To provide a deeply reflective forum for expression of spiritual connection with the natural world.

  • To act locally on behalf of Goose Creek Meeting on projects rising from and supported by the collective spirit of the committee.

  • To encourage Friends and others to educate themselves concerning the care and restoration of the natural world.

Frequency of meetings: Monthly: Every third First Day after snacks.

Activities:

  • Encouraging earth friendly practices within our Meeting House, e.g.
  • Energy saving compact floursecent lights, biodegradable paper products, recyclable paper.

  • Interest group meetings at annual BYM Conference

  • Official endorsement of U.N Earth Charter.

Current or recent special endeavors/projects: Staring in January 2006, our committee will provide snacks every third First day that consider our right relationship with the natural world.

Interaction with other committees:

  • Hospitality Committee--eco-friendly snacks and paper products.

  • Property committee--eco-friendly energy use by Meetinghouse.

Outreach Work: We encourage Friends and others to educate themselves within Meeting, at BYM interest groups and with our representation of BYM, FGC and Quaker Witness Committees.
