Goose Creek Friends Quaker Meeting

Why, if it's in the town of Lincoln, are we called "Goose Creek Friends Meeting?" Canada Geese were often found in the Goose Creek which runs near the town. Not at all surprising that the folk who first moved here called their town "Goose Creek"  But there came a time when the town wanted a post office.  In those days, to get an official federal post office, it was necessary to get approval from the President of the United States. Before sending off their request for a post office designation, the town folk decided they would have a better chance if they renamed the town after the then president, Abe Lincoln. Seems to have worked.
